Running a marathon for OSME
On the 7th of September OSME supporter, Ed Stubbings will be running a marathon in the ancient city of Petra in Jordan. Funds raised for OSME will be specifically for our Youth Development Fund to support initiatives across the OSME region (you can also choose to support the UK-based Marine Conservation Society).
Ed Stubbings – “A few years ago I decided that I wanted to run a desert and an ice marathon before I was 50 and this is the desert leg of that ambition. I chose Jordan as I had started doing some bird survey work in the region last year (Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, just south of Jordan) and I chose OSME because a friend (Richard Porter) recommended their Youth Development Fund as a worthy cause in the region. I really hope that I can do my best and raise lots of money to give young people across the OSME Region an opportunity to experience and be inspired by nature.”

So great to read that Ed will run the Petra marathon to support OSME. I would love to support Ed. Not with money (as tourism to Petra has almost completely stopped) but I would love to host him in my B&B as I live in Wadi Musa, very close to the Petra entrance. What I can offer is a stay for a 50% discount. I just don’t know how to get in touch with Ed. Can OSME help me with that?
Hello there, this is Ed here. Thank you very much for your kind offer. My wife and I are actually covered for our stay at Petra by the package that we had to sign up to to enter the marathon. I do however have a couple of friends in Saudi Arabia that were thinking of visiting during the marathon and if you wanted to offer a discount to them I could pass your details on and see whether they could come and stay with you.
